It is with great sadness that I report to all of his shipmates and friends that my dear Commander passed quietly and peacefully at 06:22 Tuesday December 19th.  Bob's illness was sudden and swift. His daughters and I are incredibly thankful for all the words of encouragement and prayers over these past two weeks.  And though we will miss him terribly we know that all of our lives are forever enriched for having known and loved a man of such dignity and grace.

A small reception/visitation will be held at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral home in Clemmons this Friday, December 22, from 6-8 PM.

On January 27th, 2018, his family will host a celebration of his life in honor of his 88th birthday at 5464 Stewart Drive in Virginia Beach.  Please contact Debby Wentzell at 757-286-3704 for additional information regarding this celebration.

Bob will receive a Full Honors Funeral at Arlington National Cemetary probably during the spring, those arrangements will be made available by Ken Killmeyer as soon as we have them in place.

Again, thank you all so very much for all your support during this very difficult time.

Jackie Kohler

Commander Bob Kohler’s health situation has taken a turn for the worst. Today, Bob Kohler has been placed on palliative care and is not expected to live very much longer.  Bob's wife Jackie Kohler was told that Bob could live for 24 hours to a week.  He had previously indicated his wishes, in writing, to not be placed on long term life support.  His treatment will continue to keep him comfortable.  He had also expressed his desire to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.  Jackie will see that Bob receives full naval honors for his 30 years of service.  This coming January 30th Bob would have been eighty-eight years old.

Please continue to keep Bob, Jackie, Bob's two daughters and their extended family in your prayers

Jackie will let us know when the inevitable occurs.
